What documents are required when submitting a claim?

The following documents are typically required: 
• A certified copy of the death certificate (for funeral claims) 
• A copy of the deceased’s ID 
• The claimant’s ID 
• A fully completed claim form 
• The claimant’s banking details 
• All copies of the DHA/BI-1663 form from Home Affairs 
• Additional documents may be requested depending on the type of claim

What is your Customer Care operating hours?

Our Customer Care line operates from 08h00 to 17h00 on weekdays, and from 08h00 to 13h00 on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays and public holidays. However, our pick-up and repatriation services operate 24/7.

Will there be a waiting period for new benefits?

Yes. For example, if you upgrade your cover from R30 000 to R40 000, there will be a six-month waiting period applied to the additional amount.

How can I upgrade or downgrade my cover?

How do I change my debit order date or update my bank details?

Can I add or remove dependants from my policy?

Yes, you can. To add a dependant, we require their full details (name, surname and ID number if the person is over 18 years old).

What documents do I need to change my surname, ID number, or contact details?

Please bring your marriage certificate or a copy of your updated ID, and we will update your details.

Payment FAQs

Can I change my payment method later?

Yes. You can switch between payment methods at any time. Please contact us and we’ll assist you with the change.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss one premium, your policy will fall into arrears, but your cover will remain active. If you miss two consecutive premiums, your policy will lapse and Two Mountains will not honour any claims.

Do I need to have a minimum income to qualify for a funeral policy?

No. There is no minimum income required. We are committed to making funeral cover accessible to everyone.

What is Pay@ and how can I use it to pay?

Pay@ is a secure payment platform that allows you to pay your funeral policy premiums at a wide range of retailers and outlets or digital platforms. You can make use of any of these convenient Pay@ payment methods:

  • Use a QR code or Pay@ link to pay online or through digital platforms.
  • Pay in-store at participating retailers such as Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Ackermans, Boxer, Pep and at spaza shops with Flash.

Can my funeral cover premium be deducted from my SASSA grant?

Yes. If you are a registered SASSA grant recipient, your premium can be automatically deducted from your monthly grant payout.

How does the Government Stop Order (PERSAL) work?

Visit one of our branches or contact our toll-free number 0800 668 539, and we will assist you in setting up a PERSAL stop order for monthly salary deductions via your payroll department. (Applies to government employees, excluding SANDF.)

How do I set up a debit order for my funeral cover?

Call our toll-free number 0800 668 539, and our team will assist you in setting up a debit order for automatic monthly deductions from your bank account. You can also visit one of our branches or offices.

Can I pay my premiums in parts or split the payment?

No. Only full premiums are accepted; part or split payments are not allowed.

What payment options are available for my funeral policy?

We offer several convenient payment methods:

  • Debit order (automatic bank deductions)
  • Government stop order (PERSAL)
  • SASSA grant deduction
  • Pay@ (via QR code, Pay@ link, or participating retailers and spaza shops)
  • Card payments (at all our branches and satellite offices)

Special Offers FAQs

When is this offer available?

The special offers are valid from 26 November 2025 to 31 July 2026. Burials must be concluded within this period, and full payment is required.

Who can use these offers?

All families using Two Mountains Burial Services are eligible, whether paying cash or using a Two Mountains policy. Only one offer per burial applies, even if the deceased had multiple policies.

What savings can I get on tombstones?

  • 20% saving on selected tombstones, saving you up to R20,000.
  • Applies only to tombstones installed by Two Mountains.
  • Must be installed within 1 year of the burial.
  • Delivery charges apply if the destination is over 100 km from a branch.

What savings are available on caskets?

  • 25% saving on selected premium caskets, saving you up to R5,000.
  • Subject to stock availability.

Can I exchange my family car benefit?

Yes! Families can exchange the standard family car benefit for one of these packages:

1 family car:

  • Catering Equipment Home Setup & Transport Package or
  • Standard Headstone

2 family cars:

  • Catering Equipment Home Setup & Transport Package + Headstone or
  • Full Tombstone

What’s included in the Catering Equipment Home Setup & Transport Package?

  • Equipment for 100 guests
  • Gas stove & 4 pots
  • Plates & spoons
  • 4 tables
  • A1 memorial photo
  • Transport/Bus service

Are there any limits on substitutions?

  • Substitutions are limited to the value of the original benefit.
  • If the chosen package costs more, the family pays the difference.
  • Only one substitution per burial, chosen during funeral planning.

Can I combine these offers with other promotions?

No, unless specifically approved in writing.

Can the offers change or be withdrawn?

Yes. Two Mountains may amend or withdraw offers at any time without prior notice.

Any other important information?

All services follow standard Two Mountains Burial Services terms. Offers are available to all consumers and are independent of insurance entities.
